A sustainable community acknowledges that economic, environmental and social issues are interrelated and that they should be addressed as a whole. It recognizes the need to design the built environment in a way that protects the integrity of the natural environment. It shifts away from polluting and wasteful practices. It understands its natural, cultural, historical and human assets and resources and acts to protect and enhance them.
Sustainable Princeton: Toward a Greener Future is a community-wide effort to develop a long-term vision, an action plan, and a way to track progress towards sustainable development in Princeton Township and Princeton Borough.
Working with the Princeton community's local and school officials, businesses, community organizations, academic institutions, and residents, we will create a sustainable community plan that includes goals, indicators and targets (ways to measure progress), and actions for residents, local government, businesses, and civic organizations.
We created this website to provide information regarding Sustainable Princeton: Toward a Greener Future and to spark ideas about how members of the Princeton community can work together to make the township and borough more sustainable. We encourage you to explore the site and to visit often.
